Tax Preparation Season is Upon Us and We’re Here to Help!

Hello I’m Linda Ross from better bookkeepers and this is a message to our wonderful clients the tax preparation season is upon us and your bookkeeping team is actively working to get your books in tip-top shape for you after all of your transactions are recorded and reconciled we will begin an 11 step year-end closing process we will make a year-end file of documents that prove the numbers on your financial statements these are reviewed by a supervisor then we schedule a meeting with you so you can personally check the numbers yourself this is an opportunity for you to make any final adjustments this meeting can be done in person at our office or by phone using a computer screen sharing application after you’ve approved the books we will send the financial reports supporting documents and QuickBooks file to your tax preparer along with a memo providing the information needed to make their job easier to do for you we have confidence that with proper coordination with you we can meet the deadlines your tax filing deadline varies depending on which type of legal entity your company is so look at the chart on this email to determine what the deadline is for your company the first tax deadline is March 15 we want to get your books to your tax preparer no later than February 28 about half of our clients fall in this category Louisa our client services coordinator has been reaching out to you to get the required information as of this email about half of those clients have provided everything that we need to close your books so a big thank you to that group as to the rest of you and you know who you are please please please answer our questions and request for documents promptly our goal is to get all of your documents and answers in to us not later than January 31st this gives us one month the month of February to do the Supervisory review and the client meeting before sending your books to the tax preparer so here’s the coordination points that we need call Louisa at Oh eight two one nine four zero four four two schedule the meeting with us so that you can review and approve your books coordinate with us before you schedule a meeting with your tax preparer if you plan to file an extension please tell us and if your tax deadline is April 15th but you want to get your taxes done early let us know otherwise we’ll be focusing on closing your books after those with the March 15th deadline you are a key member of our bookkeeping team we appreciate you and look forward to making this a successful tax season for all.
